Meet the Coaches

Kim Wilkinson

Compulsory Team Director

Coach Kim has been involved with the sport of gymnastics since a very young age. Beginning at age of 8, she quickly moved up the levels and finished her career after a top 5 placing at AAU Level 9 Nationals. After “retiring” from gymnastics at the age of 15, she earned her varsity letter all four years of high school in Track and Field. After high school, Kim attended Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, Michigan, and began to coach gymnastics in August of 2004.

As she continued to coach through college, Kim was involved with coaching gymnasts level 3-9, Prep-Optional (Xcel), preschool, recreational, and training team. In 2009, Kim graduated from Hillsdale College with a major in Physical Education. She has also taken numerous courses through USA Gymnastics University including: Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction (U100), Safety and Risk Management (U101), USAG Region 5 Congress (U310), USAG National Congress (U410), Women’s Junior Olympic Coaches Course (W300), National Junior Olympic Compulsory Workshop (W311), National JO Compulsory, and National High Performance Camp (Nov 2007). Outside of USA Gymnastics University, Kim has attended numerous other clinics through Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, has completed the Heads Up! Concussion in Youth Sports course, and is also CPR and First Aid certified.

As a coach, I love seeing the girls learn important life lessons while enjoying a sport that they love. Gymnastics provides the girls an opportunity to learn a strong sense of responsibility, time management, teamwork, respect for coaches and teammates, as well as boosting self-confidence and proving to themselves that anything can be achieved with goals, the proper mindset, and determination.

My favorite event to coach is vault. While I’m not in the gym, I enjoy watching “YouTube” videos (about gymnastics), spending time with my pets (and my husband!), and extreme couponing. In the future, I hope to continue to advance my gymnastics knowledge and eventually coach within the elite program.
